A great place for children! This site shelters over 130 species of animals in their natural habitats and features native wildlife. The 6.5 acre park also houses a selection of farm animals and is a wonderful way to give kids an appreciation of nature. On-site café and visitors center.#13;#10;#13;#10;

Two miles south of Birmingham, this city park has a multitude of attractions. Playgrounds, lakes, a wildflower meadow, tennis courts, and a tropical greenhouse provide welcome distractions for the family. A tearoom and information center for visitors are also available. #13;#10;

A hotspot for windsurfing, fishing, and other water activities. This 60-acre reservoir lies about two miles from the city and provides changing rooms and showers. Surrounding the reservoir is a two-mile walkway winding through woods and marshlands. It's a prime location for bird watching and observing the local wildlife.

Lying southwest of Birmingham, this combination of woods and marshes covers more than 500 acres. Home to a diverse collection of wildlife, it also allows room for tennis courts, a golf course, a playground, and a handicapped-accessible trail. The visitor's center distributes useful information about the area. A caf�� and public restrooms are available, as well.

Once slated for bulldozers and asphalt, this site was bought by the city and opened to community use. A few miles northeast of Birmingham, the park contains forests, meadows, and several pools that are home to area wildlife. Rangers make sure that the trails and boardwalks are well maintained on the 28-acre site. A parking lot is available.
